Fury is the dual-wield Warrior. Every white swing of both weapons builds rage, and you spend it on
Bloodthirst,
Whirlwind and, below 20 % boss health,
Execute. Forever adds a stance dance to that loop: Tactical Mastery is now baseline, so you can step into
Battle Stance for an
Overpower and keep up to 25 rage with
Improved Tactical Mastery. On a one-minute single-boss fight the build in this guide does 1,090.7 DPS, 1st of 25 damage specs.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Short, bursty fights. On a one-minute single-boss fight Fury ranks 1st of 25, because one
Death Wish, one
Recklessness and one
Goblin Sapper Charge cover a large share of a one-minute fight. - Packs of bosses.
Whirlwind hits up to four targets with both weapons in Forever, and Cleave takes over from Heroic Strike. On a one-minute fight against three bosses Fury ranks 1st. - The Execute phase. Execute alone is 15.1 % of your damage on a three-minute fight, and it is where your cooldowns go.
- A raid buff of your own.
Battle Shout gives your party 139 attack power, which the melee in your group feel most.
Weaknesses
- Long fights dilute the burst. Death Wish has a three-minute cooldown and Recklessness thirty, so on a three-minute single-boss fight you get each once. Fury drops to 2nd there.
- It needs a lot of hit. On Classic's attack table, which our simulator uses until Forever publishes its own, a dual-wielder's white swings miss 27 % of the time against a raid boss. Your specials stop missing at 9 % hit; your white swings never do.
- Rage comes from swinging. A missed or dodged white swing gives no rage, so every gap in your swings, from movement or a long cast, slows the whole rotation.
On every fight
Fury is at its best when the fight is short or there is more than one target. It falls back on long single-target fights, where its cooldowns sit idle for most of the time. Click a fight to switch the whole guide to it.
Races
For the Horde, Orc leads on a one-minute single-boss fight. Undead win the longer fights through Touch of the Grave, which drains 5 % of your maximum health from the boss as Shadow damage on 5 % of your hits. That makes your health a damage stat: it is 3.0 % of an Undead Fury Warrior's damage on a three-minute fight. Orcs take the one-minute fights, where
Blood Fury (10 % attack power for 15 seconds) lines up with your opening burst and Axe Specialization adds 1 % crit with the Flurry Axe in your off hand.
For the Alliance, Human leads every single-boss fight. Human Sword Specialization is now 2 % crit with a sword in either hand, which is why the Human set wears a sword in the main hand. Racials give crit in Forever, not weapon skill, so the Classic picture of "Human for swords and maces" no longer holds: maces belong to the Dwarf, at 1 % crit.
What a Warrior brings to the raid
Battle Shout is the buff a Fury Warrior adds to its party. The table shows what it is worth to the damage specs that gain from it on this fight. Sunder Armor shows no value here: the benchmark raid already applies the stronger of Sunder Armor and Expose Armor, and the two don't stack.
Battle Shout+3.1 % to 10 of 25most: Subtlety Rogue (Hemo) +5.4 %
