Arcane Mage Stat Weights

On a one-minute single-boss fight, 1 % spell hit is worth 16.6 Spell damage, 1 % spell crit 10.5 and 1 % haste -0.05. Per point, Intellect is worth 0.21. The weights are in points of Spell damage and were measured on the benchmark set, so they describe a small step up from that gear.

Hit

A spell misses a level-63 boss 17 % of the time before hit, and hit can bring that down to 1 %, so 16 % is the cap. Arcane Focus covers 5 % of it for your Arcane spells, which still leaves them 11 % short. This set has 4.0 %, so no point of hit is wasted. A missed Arcane Blast costs more than its damage, because only a landed one can proc Missile Barrage. Frostbolt and the Fire spells use Elemental Precision instead. These are Classic's figures. Forever hasn't published its own.

Crit

With Arcane Mind an Arcane crit deals twice the hit, and Ice Shards, where the build takes it, does the same for Frost spells. Spell crit has no cap, and this set sits at 16.4 % on the character sheet. Incineration adds crit to Arcane Blast and not to Arcane Missiles, so your Arcane Blasts crit more often than your missiles.

Spell damage and Intellect

Spell damage is the reference. Arcane damage counts for your Arcane spells only, so a point of it is worth 0.84 of a point of spell damage here. Frost damage only reaches Frostbolt and Cone of Cold. Intellect gives 1 % crit for every 59.5 points, 10 % more with Arcane Mind, plus mana. On one boss mana is never short and Intellect is worth 0.22. On three bosses Arcane Explosion runs you dry and it rises to 0.91.

Haste

Haste shortens every Arcane Blast and Frostbolt cast. Its weight grows with the fight, from -0.05 on one minute to 9.18 on three. Nothing in our notes explains a near-zero weight on one minute, so treat that one number as under review.

Hit stays first and crit second on every fight. On three bosses the percent stats are worth about twice as many points of spell damage, because Arcane Explosion takes only 14.3 % of your spell damage on each target. Intellect, MP5 and Spirit climb there too, because Arcane Explosion costs more mana than you regain. If you gear for one boss, take hit until your Arcane spells stop missing, then spell damage and crit.
