Everything below can be collected before the raids open on 9 December, from dungeons, quests, crafting, reputation and vendors, and the search only used items whose Forever stats are published. The set averages item level 61.1. Spell damage decides almost every slot, with hit wherever an item carries it, and Tailoring makes several of the best pieces, one of them for warlocks only.

Open a slot to see the runners-up and the damage each would cost you on this fight. "Level" means the gap is too small for the simulation to tell apart, so keep the item you already own.

Weapons

The factions part ways at the weapon. The Horde set wears Ironbark Staff from The Defilers at Exalted, with 94 spell damage, 2 % crit and room for a two-handed enchant. The next weapon, Crackling Staff, costs 10.5 DPS.

The Alliance set pairs Sageblade, a Blacksmithing sword you can buy since it binds on equip, with Therazane's Touch from the Alterac Valley vendors. As a Human, the sword also turns on Sword Specialization's 2 % crit. The League of Arathor sells the same staff, and our search lists it 24.7 DPS behind on three minutes. That comparison is unfair to the staff: the search tried it without its 55-spell-damage enchant. With the enchant it is probably the better Alliance weapon too, so treat the Alliance pick as open.

Chest

Robe of the Void is a warlock-only Tailoring robe with 46 spell damage. It binds when picked up, so you have to make it yourself. Without Tailoring, Robe of Winter Night costs 7.0 DPS.

Trinkets

Talisman of Ascendance, a quest reward in the Eastern Plaguelands, is the slot with the biggest gap: the next trinket costs 24.0 DPS. Use it on cooldown, before a run of spells: each of your next spells adds up to 40 spell damage, five times over. Our simulator keeps the stacks for the full 20 seconds, where the item ends them after six spells, so its lead is a little overstated. Weakness Analyzer from Pix Xizzix in Stranglethorn Vale counts here for its 22 spell damage alone, because its 5 % crit use isn't simulated.

Head, feet and wand

Deathmist Mask is a quest reward with 1 % hit. The rest of the set's hit comes from Arcanoweave Cloak, from Blessed Band of Light where it takes the ring slot (Maiden's Circle is level with it) and, for the Alliance, from the Sageblade. The feet are a tie between Earthen Silk Slippers and Omnicast Boots (level). Earthen Silk Slippers are an item-level 36 Tailoring craft with 24 spell damage, and Omnicast Boots drop from Golem Lord Argelmach in Blackrock Depths. Brilliant Wand is an Enchanting craft that binds when picked up. If you aren't an enchanter, Greater Eternal Wand is next (level).

Reputation and vendor pieces

Brilliant Watcher's Signet needs The Watchers at Exalted. The legs come from the Warsong Gulch vendors (Outrider's for the Horde, Sentinel's for the Alliance), and Dryad's Wrist Bindings from a vendor in Ashenvale and The Barrens. Mantle of the Timbermaw, Gloves of Spell Mastery and Belt of the Archmage are Tailoring crafts that bind on equip, so you can buy them.

Enchants

  • Head and legs: Arcanum of Focus on both, +8 spell damage.
  • Neck: the necklace enchant Spell Power, +6. Forever lets you enchant necklaces.
  • Wrists: the bracer enchant Healing Power. It gives 8 spell damage beside its healing, more than any other bracer enchant in our pool.
  • Chest and feet: Mystic Rugged Armor Kit on the feet, +6 spell damage and 40 armor. The chest takes Mystic Rugged Armor Kit on this fight.
  • Hands: Minor Haste on this fight. Minor Haste (+1 % casting speed) and the armor kit trade the slot between fights, so either works. Wowhead marks Minor Haste as PTR only, so it may not be in the game at launch.
  • Horde staff: Mighty Spell Power, +55 spell damage.

Consumables

The always-bring list: Flask of Supreme Power (13.5 %), Major Mana Potion (2.6 %), Greater Arcane Elixir (3.1 %), Elixir of Shadow Power (3.2 %) and Demonic Rune (0.7 %). The rune costs 600 to 1,000 health for its mana, which a healer pays back like your Life Taps.

The rest are small. Cerebral Cortex Compound is worth 0.6 %, Runn Tum Tuber Surprise 0.3 % and Mageblood Elixir 0.0 %. Rumsey Rum Black Label only adds Stamina, which counts for nothing but the Undead's Touch of the Grave.
