The cat's points on a one-minute single-boss fight go 9/32/10. The build runs the Feral tree down to
Berserk through
Shifting Power and the crit talents, takes nine points in Balance for 4 % hit and 4 % crit, and spends the rest in Restoration on
Furor and
Naturalist.
050022-55000032021032212031-055Our search fits the talents to each fight and each faction separately. The differences are two or three points near the bottom of the trees, and nothing below depends on them.
Why these talents
Nothing in the build is worth more than
Shifting Power: 16.3 % of your damage. It turns 684 mana into 40 Energy instantly.
Improved Shifting Power takes its cooldown from 16 seconds to 8, worth another 7.7 %, and the
Howling Idol shaves off one more. Pressed on cooldown, it gives you about a third of your Energy.
Shredding Attacks cuts
Shred from 60 Energy to 42, so every 100 Energy buys about 43 % more Shreds. It is worth 13.3 %, and it is also the way into Shifting Power, which needs it.
Naturalist was Classic's Improved Healing Touch. Forever folded Natural Weapons into it, so on top of the Healing Touch cast time it adds 1 % to all your damage a point, white swings and bleeds included. It is worth 4.8 %.
Rend and Tear adds 2 % a point to your melee abilities against a bleeding target, and
Rip keeps the boss bleeding 86.7 % of the fight. In our simulator Rip's own ticks count too. It is worth 2.6 %.
Crit.
Sharpened Claws (4.1 %) gives 6 % crit in Cat Form and
Nature's Majesty (2.8 %) 4 % more.
Natural Instinct makes your abilities crit for 2.2 times their damage instead of 2, Rip's ticks included, and is worth 3.7 %. With
Blood Frenzy, each point gives a crit from Shred or Ravage a 50 % chance of a second combo point.
Berserk gives Shred and Ravage 100 % more crit chance for 15 seconds on a 3-minute cooldown. You get it once a fight, at the pull, so it is worth 5.0 % on one minute and 1.7 % on three.
Nature's Reach (2.6 %) is the cheapest hit you will find: 4 % for two points, and a cat's white swings and abilities share one 9 % cap.
Flexible points
A few points do nothing in a boss fight, and a couple more sit level with each other.
- Ferocity. Five points that only cheapen Claw, Rake and the bear's abilities, none of which the cat uses: worth 0.0 %. They are there to reach the 30 Feral points Berserk needs. Any five points in the upper rows do that job.
Feral Swiftness (30 % run speed in Cat Form and 4 % dodge) and the Cat Form
Feral Charge help you move on a real boss and score the same nothing here. The three-boss one-minute build already puts two of the five into Feral Swiftness. - The last point of Rend and Tear or Naturalist. Either: their last points are worth 6.5 DPS and 7.1 DPS, inside the noise of each other. On one-minute fights the second point of Blood Frenzy, 8.8 DPS, beats both, because every Shred crits during Berserk, and each crit is a chance at a second combo point.
- Leader of the Pack reads 0.0 % here only because the benchmark's melee group already has a Feral Druid, and the two don't stack. You need it for Berserk anyway. If you are your group's only Feral, it is 3 % crit for you and four others.
- Genesis and Furor are row-one points you need to reach the second rows.
Genesis adds 5 % to Rip (1.0 %).
Furor keeps your Energy while you are out of form for a consumable, worth 1.7 % on one minute and 0.6 % on three.
Natural Shapeshifter would make Shifting Power and Cat Form cheaper, but no searched build keeps it over Naturalist.
What each talent is worth
Every number is the same build simulated without that one talent on the same fights, so it measures what those points add. The worths overlap, which is why the column doesn't sum to your DPS. To place one leftover point, read the last-point column, which is the cost of losing just that point.
On every fight
From fight to fight, the cat's build trades a handful of points at the bottom of the trees. One-minute fights take the second Blood Frenzy point and drop to three in Rend and Tear, because Berserk is a bigger share of a short fight. The three-minute single-boss build fills Rend and Tear and leaves Naturalist at four. Below, every fight's build is compared with this fight's.
