Feral Druid Tank Rotation

engine 53f4a3c10,000 iterations12 Octbenchmark on 1 boss · 1 minbeta data: unverified until level 60 opensupdated 12 Oct 2026How this is measured

· 1 boss · 1 min · Pre-raid

The bear plays a short priority list built on one cooldown, one stacking bleed and one Rage dump. Primal Bite goes out every time it is ready, Lacerate holds five stacks on the boss and fills the gaps, and Maul turns spare Rage into a heavier swing.

The pull

Nothing needs casting before the pull: the sim puts you in Dire Bear Form with an empty Rage bar.

The Threat sets open with Manual Crowd Pummeler in hand. Use it as the boss arrives: 50 % attack speed for 30 seconds means more swings, more Rage and more Mauls in the moments when you have least threat. When the Haste runs out, swap to your own weapon at once. On a three-minute single-boss fight the swap-back line is worth more than any spell line except Primal Bite and Maul, because without it you would swing the Pummeler's 29 damage per second all fight.

The same opening seconds spend Berserk, Enrage and, for a Night Elf, Elune's Light.

Priority

Each time you are free to act, work down the list and take the first ability whose condition holds. Then go back to the top.

  1. 1Swap to item set swap1 if Haste not active and Manual Crowd Pummeler not readyWeapon swap (bench/swap.go): the set's own weapons go on once Manual Crowd Pummeler is used and its buff is over.+87 TPS · 7.0 %
  2. 2Cast Manual Crowd PummelerWeapon swap (bench/swap.go): Manual Crowd Pummeler is used at the pull.1.0/min–
  3. 3Use the other cooldowns as they come up+169 TPS · 13.7 %
  4. 4Cast Primal Bite18/min+259 TPS · 21.0 %
  5. 5Cast Lacerate if Lacerate stacks on the target < 5 or Lacerate remaining ≤ 4.5 s21/min–
  6. 6Cast Maul if rage ≥ 3814/min+253 TPS · 20.5 %
  7. 7Cast Lacerate21/min+13 TPS · 1.0 %
the first line that can run does, every time you can act · worth: the rotation without that line, on the same simulated fights
  1. Primal Bite on cooldown. Weapon damage plus 77 every 6 seconds, for 15 Rage with Ferocity, and our engine counts its damage twice for threat. Taking the line out costs 21.0 % of your threat on a one-minute single-boss fight.
  2. Lacerate until the boss has five stacks, and again with 4.5 seconds or less left on them. Each stack adds a bleed of 15 every 3 seconds, and every cast hits for a tenth of your weapon damage per stack. It deals 16.2 % of your damage. This line scores near zero because the filler at the bottom casts the same spell when it doesn't.
  3. Maul with spare Rage, at 38 or more in the searched lists. It replaces your next swing and adds 128 damage, and our engine gives it 1.75 times its damage as threat. The replaced swing pays no Rage, so Maul really costs its 10 Rage plus the 8.65 the swing would have paid. Expect about 13.8 a minute. The line is worth 20.5 %.
  4. Lacerate as the filler. With the stacks up, a Lacerate is a 12-Rage hit that refreshes the bleed, worth 1.0 %.

More than one target

Two things change against three bosses. Swipe goes in above Lacerate whenever three enemies are in reach: 83 damage plus 3 % of your attack power to each, for 15 Rage, and 27.2 % of your damage on a three-minute fight against three bosses. Lacerate drops out almost entirely, since Swipe takes its globals, and Rend and Tear loses the bleed it needs.

Maul becomes your biggest hit. Three bosses swinging at you pay three times the Rage, so on a three-minute fight against three bosses it goes out 29.7 times a minute against 11.5 on one boss, and it is 34.6 % of your damage.

The searched lists queue it a little earlier, at 25 to 31 Rage, because the Rage keeps coming.

Berserk matters most here. For its 15 seconds Primal Bite has no cooldown and hits all three bosses, so open with it and spend those seconds on Primal Bite before anything else.

Cooldowns

Berserk comes back every three minutes, which on these fights means one use, at the pull. A longer fight gets a second at the three-minute mark. On a one-minute single-boss fight Berserk adds 7.0 % to your score.

Enrage gives 10 Rage at once and 20 more over 10 seconds, every minute, at no cost. Enraged Idol adds 10 to each. Use it on cooldown for threat, but it cuts your armor while it runs: by 27 % in our engine, where the client's text says 16 % in Dire Bear Form.

Barkskin is never pressed by the Threat lists: it adds no threat, and our healed tank survives without it. Real raids are another matter: hold it for the part of the fight that hits hardest. It takes 20 % off Physical damage for 15 seconds on a one-minute cooldown, and Forever lets you cast it in Bear Form.

Frenzied Regeneration turns up to 10 Rage a second into 1 % of your maximum health a point, for 10 seconds, every three minutes: a full health bar if you have 100 Rage to give. It never goes out in our sims, because the healing model keeps the bear alive. It is your emergency button in a real raid, at the cost of your threat for those seconds.

Manual Crowd Pummeler goes at the pull (above). Night Elves press Elune's Light at the pull as well.

What your log should show

Line your Warcraft Logs numbers up with this table. A low Primal Bite count means you are letting its cooldown sit.

A Lacerate uptime well below the one under Uptimes means the stacks are falling off.
